Instagram unveiled its Creator Lab in India during an event in Mumbai, catering to content creators by offering resources in both English and Hindi, along with captions in five additional languages. The platform, owned by Meta, introduced three new features focused on enhancing user engagement through stories, direct messages, and notes, while highlighting existing features already available to users.
Expanding on the Born on Instagram program introduced in 2019, the Creator Lab is set to provide valuable resources for aspiring creators in India. Content featured in the Creator Lab will be contributed by 14 creators from across the country, offering insights and strategies to help others succeed in their content creation journey. The educational resource will be accessible in both Hindi and English, with captions provided in Bengali, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu.
One of the key features introduced by Instagram is Comments in Stories, enabling users to leave comments on stories that are visible to others for 24 hours. Additionally, comments on stories that are added to Highlights will remain visible to viewers. Instagram has also included the option for users to disable comments on their stories, giving individuals control over their content interaction.
Building on the ability to use cutouts of images as stickers in stories, Instagram now allows users to share these image cutouts as stickers in direct messages. This feature enhances communication between users by offering a creative way to express themselves through visual elements. Furthermore, Birthday Notes is another upcoming feature designed to increase engagement on the platform, where users will receive a special birthday hat icon in their Instagram Notes section on their birthday.
Instagram ensures that privacy settings for Birthday Notes will align with regular Instagram notes, emphasizing the importance of configuring these settings before enabling the feature. This measure indicates the platform’s commitment to safeguarding user privacy while enhancing the overall user experience.
Instagram’s initiative to launch the Creator Lab in India and introduce new features aimed at boosting engagement reflects the platform’s dedication to supporting content creators and enhancing user interaction. With a focus on educational resources, innovative features, and privacy considerations, Instagram continues to evolve as a dynamic social media platform catering to diverse user needs.
