New Privacy Feature in WhatsApp for Android

New Privacy Feature in WhatsApp for Android

WhatsApp for Android is continuously enhancing its features to provide users with more control over their privacy settings. Recently, a new privacy-related feature for managing synced contacts has been in development, as reported by a feature tracker.

The upcoming feature will offer users the ability to manage the synchronization of their address book contacts when using WhatsApp on multiple devices. This functionality will be especially useful for users who have multiple WhatsApp accounts on the same device.

According to the feature tracker WABetaInfo, the new contact syncing feature will come with a revamped user interface that allows users to “Keep your contacts separate for each account.” This UI improvement will make it easier for users to distinguish between synced contacts for different accounts.

In addition to contact syncing management, WhatsApp for Android has introduced other beta features, such as a shortcut for marking all chats as ‘read’ at once. These continuous updates show WhatsApp’s commitment to enhancing user experience and providing more control over the app’s functionalities.

While the new contact syncing feature is currently in development and not available to beta testers, it is expected to be included in a future update of WhatsApp for Android. However, it is important to note that not all features being worked on by WhatsApp make it to the public version of the app.

Apart from contact syncing, WhatsApp for Android is also testing a feature that allows users to clear their unread message count by marking all received messages as ‘read.’ This feature, along with others, showcases WhatsApp’s dedication to improving chat management and user interaction.

WhatsApp ensures feature parity across its iOS and Android apps, indicating that the ‘mark read’ feature currently in development for Android may also be implemented in the iOS version of the app. This commitment to consistency in feature offerings highlights WhatsApp’s goal of providing a seamless user experience across different platforms.

The new privacy feature development in WhatsApp for Android signals the platform’s ongoing efforts to empower users with more control over their contacts and chats. As these features continue to evolve, WhatsApp users can look forward to a more customizable and streamlined messaging experience on the app.
