The Future of WhatsApp: New Features on the Horizon

WhatsApp has been teasing chat themes for quite some time now, and a recent feature tracker leak has given us a glimpse of what this feature may entail. Users can look forward to customizing their chat experience by changing the color of chat bubbles and backgrounds, either through preset themes or by selecting their own colors and wallpapers. The upcoming update is also expected to introduce the option to choose a username and set a PIN to protect users from unwanted contacts.

According to reports, when the feature officially launches, WhatsApp will offer users ten preset themes to choose from. A sneak peek at the theme picker reveals two rows of themes: the top row features solid color backgrounds, while the bottom row showcases themes inspired by landscape art. Each theme comes with chat bubble colors that match the background, providing a visually cohesive chat experience.

In addition to chat themes, WhatsApp is developing a username feature that will enable users to initiate new conversations without having to share their phone numbers. To enhance user privacy and security, the platform is also working on a Username PIN feature. This upcoming feature allows users to set a unique passcode after selecting a username, which must be shared with others to initiate a conversation. This feature empowers users to control who can message them, effectively combatting spam and unwanted messages.

While these exciting new features are still in the development phase, they are expected to roll out to beta testers in the near future before becoming available to the general public. Currently, the theme picker is only visible in the WhatsApp beta for iOS update, while the Username PIN feature is part of the WhatsApp beta for Android update. Even though users may have downloaded the latest beta versions, they will have to wait until the features are ready for testing.

Overall, these upcoming changes in WhatsApp aim to enhance user experience by offering more customization options, improved privacy controls, and increased protection against unwanted contacts. As the messaging app continues to evolve, users can look forward to a more personalized and secure communication platform.
