WhatsApp Introduces Dynamic Stickers with Lottie Framework Support

WhatsApp has recently announced the introduction of more interactive stickers with fluid motion, thanks to the new Lottie framework support. Initially reported in a beta version of the WhatsApp for Android app in February, this feature is now being rolled out widely with the latest stable update for both Android and iOS platforms.

Dynamic Animations

Stickers on WhatsApp will now feature more dynamic animations, starting with the first sticker pack named “I’m Just a Girl”. This new feature will allow stickers to have fluid and engaging movements, enhancing the overall user experience.

The Lottie framework support, as reported by feature tracker WABetaInfo, is available to users who have the latest version of WhatsApp on their Android and iOS devices. Users can check the sticker store on WhatsApp to see if the feature has been enabled for them. With the Lottie framework, stickers become more dynamic and visually appealing.

Revolutionizing Sticker Packs

The current sticker packs on WhatsApp are in WebP format, which allows for compressed image sizes without compromising quality. However, the Lottie framework takes it a step further by providing fluid and engaging animations created using motion graphic design software like Adobe After Effects. Stickers developed with Lottie are vector-based, allowing for easy scaling without losing resolution.

The first official sticker pack to utilize the new Lottie framework is “I’m Just a Girl”, developed by BUCK. This sticker pack features animations with fluid motions that set it apart from other packs in the store. Despite its dynamic animations, the “I’m Just a Girl” sticker pack is only 228KB in size, ensuring smooth performance on devices.

Meta AI Chatbot in India

In addition to the Lottie framework support, Meta Platforms, the parent company of WhatsApp, has announced the introduction of Meta AI to India. The AI chatbot, powered by Meta’s Llama 3 large language model (LLM), will be available across various apps including WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook. Initially announced in April, the AI chatbot is now making its way to Indian users, promising a more personalized and efficient user experience.

WhatsApp’s integration of the Lottie framework for stickers and the introduction of Meta AI chatbot in India mark significant advancements in enhancing user engagement and interaction on the platform. These new features are a testament to WhatsApp’s dedication to innovation and improving user experience across its various services.
